What a remarkable moment we are living in! The overwhelming mandate for change given to Barack Obama illustrates that our universal desire for change comes from a deeper place than our understandable embarrassment and disgust with the catastrophic condition of the country and its relationship to the world at large. But I would like to suggest that if we take a moment to examine ourselves, we might discover that our desire for change really arises from our innate nature to live in the Truth not in an Illusion of self-deception and misperception.
So change is not really so much about going in a different direction, as it is a process of learning to live in the Truth. We may ask ourselves questions such as… What is my part in this, how am I living in Illusion? How do I know the Truth when I experience it? What does change in my life look like? Knowing that, how do I get that to happen?
Questions like these are meaningful and their answers are not neat little mental statements of fact that we struggle to live up to, but actual living experiences. Living in the Truth is not something we create; it already exists, complete, within all of us and everything. We come to Truth by witnessing, seeing through and letting go of our own self-deception and misperception, like clearing away a veil or coming out of a mist.
This Meditation Intensive is an enjoyable means to discover your Truth, to clear away the mist of your own self-deception and misperception. The benefits of this work are whatever you want them to be, they will be different for each of us and they will be what we need to experience next.
In this intensive you will learn the two-fold practice that for years has proven to clear away this Illusion and allowed us to experience Reality as it is. You will also be introduced to innate concepts (truths) that will help you to understand how you mind/body functions as an expression of Reality. Once put altogether they act like the human being operating manual you didn’t receive at birth. And most importantly you will have an opportunity to ask the questions you have always wanted to ask, to clarify your understanding, to get help going to the places you resist or to sharpen your confidence and insight.
So, whether you are a seeker of truth, change, and peace or are simply curious, I invite you to attend this non-dogmatic yet profoundly experiential workshop. Experience true meditation and spiritual inquiry, the proven practices for deconstructing our illusory view of Reality. This illusory view is the only cause of stress and suffering of any kind.
Please be advised that because true meditation is rooted in the truth and the inquiry into the truth of your being and experience, there will be moments that may cause strong emotions and sensations to arise in your mind/body, moments we might describe as uncomfortable. This is the nature of the path, and is actually a sign that you are touching truth. It is completely natural, safe and ultimately healing. Plan on experiencing the full range of sensations, from tension to ease, and emotions, from joy to tears. All inquiry and discussions are treated respectfully, with understanding that we all share common experiences and benefit from each others courage to open to the places that they resist.
The introductory one-day program will be the first in a series, for those who choose to continue, of 10 weekly 90-minute meetings and a one-day workshop to close. The format for all meetings will be teaching, guided and silent sitting meditation, discussions and lots of open Q & A. Silence will be observed in all sessions (except for discussions and Q & A).
This workshop is open to everyone and the winter group will be formed at the end of the first day when participants will be asked if they care to continue during the winter or not. There will be no pressure to continue, it is completely voluntary. If you cannot attend the first day but want to be in the winter group, just let me know.
For those who do not choose to continue, you will leave knowing how to meditate, with powerful tools for mastering stress, as well as a fresh, realistic perspective on life in general.
I look forward to sharing this meaningful experience and having a lot of fun, with you all!
